Envy

As a student I learned something very interesting. We all love our friends till they are at par with us or somewhere lagging behind us. But, our reactions do change when we see them moving ahead of us in life. A typical example can be found in examination halls, where we would look at our friends with surprise and envy when they ask for an extra sheet. And the first question we ask them when we step out of the examination hall is, “How many supplementary sheets did you take?” And then the usual nagging follows like – I write only the main points, really do not believe in filling sheets like you; we are post graduate students and should focus on writing only the main points; you seem to write history in your sheets etc.. But, how many of us do mean as to what we had said. And then follows the usual forms of jealousy and bickering behind our friends’ back. After all we are humans, cannot get rid of our negative attitude against other people.
